I hadn't considered it that way. You might be right. The only thing is that Nike hasn't mentionned any "mea culpa".
I heard that Nike had said they were going to release a new model every year until the goal for which they're raising funds was acheived. Now... I might be too much of a cynic but I can't help seeing the big $$$ they'll be making.

I think this might be a Mea Culpa. I am thinking that Nike might be trying to make amends. What do you think?
